Debating

I've been debating whether I should talk about this on my blog and then I thought you are all my friends so why shouldn't I. We found out about two weeks my mom has non hodgkins lymphoma. She had a pet scan and ct scan this past week and will be going back to the doctor a week from Tuesday to find out the results of those tests. She will also be having a bone marrow test hopefully this week so those results will be back in time for that appointment. I'm going to go to Montgomery so I can go with my parents to the appointment, I figure if we have three sets of ears maybe one of us will remember what the doctor says and remember to ask questions. I just wanted to ask everyone to pray for my mom, she is a spiritual person and we both believe in prayers. I just want her to have the strength and courage to get through this and please pray for my strength and courage as well as all my family.

i'm very sorry to hear about your mom. i will keep all of y'all in my prayers. when my friend 'M' had heart probs/open heart surgery a year ago my husband and i went with her to all of her dr. appts. even with 3 sets of ears and writing stuff down (I carried pen and notebook to all appts) there was stuff we missed - ask the dr. if you can tape record the appt. we wished we had done that as we wracked our brains & argued over what he said after every appt. hugs to your mom and please keep us updated!

I am also sorry to hear this, but I am a firm believer in the power of prayer. I have been so touched by the Blog World's compassion and reaching out with collective prayer. Please give my best wishes to your Mom! Remember that I am only an hour away from Montgomery if you need something!

I'm praying for y'all. I think tape recording what the doctor says is a good thing. We've done that at some of Aunt Sue's appointments before and it really helps to hear again what the doctor says.

My MIL just finished up her chemo for this same disease. If you want to chat with her, or if your MIL does, I can give you her number. She is a really nice lady and would be of great encouragement, I'm sure.

So sorry to hear this news and I'll be praying for your family and your MIL's doctors as well.

I agree - take notes, tape conversations if you can and don't be afraid to ask questions if something doesn't make sense. Doctors see a lot of patients in one day so it's important to feel free to ask whatever you think you need to know to help your MIL and make sure she's getting what she needs.

I am very sorry to hear that. My husbands grandmother had that when we got married. She looked so frail at the time but now you wouldn't know it. She did all the treatments and she is much better now.

Funny thing, her hair was as gray as it could be when she started losing it. It came back black and as curly as can be.

I will keep you in my prayers!
