Lots of money - again!

I heard from the caterer this past Friday regarding prices for my parents party. The party is going to be from 2-4 in the afternoon so not a heavy meal by any means just snacks. After discussing this with the caterer we decided on chicken salad sandwiches, cheese straws, fruit, nuts, and punch and that's it - mom has estimated 300 people. So would anyone care to guess how much sandwiches and cheese straws are going for now days? I honestly couldn't believe the price, I asked my MIL who use to do this on the side what she thought and she couldn't believe the price. The person is a friend of my SIL's mother and she was giving us her "best" rate. Drum roll please $1700 not including delivery and she was just dropping the food off, not putting it on trays no refilling anything I would be doing that. So who wants to open a catering business with me? I told mom we were going to plan D - do it yourself! My MIL has been giving me some suggestions on food and would welcome more ideas.

The people laying our concrete and putting up the privacy fence are planning on starting the work tomorrow - I will be so happy to let the dogs run free. The weather is suppose to be great this week - no rain until Friday. We are having our driveway extended and a patio, maybe I can remember to take before pictures tomorrow.

That is more than my wedding catering budget! We had a mexican buffet for 80 people, and it cost us $1000 and they did the decorating etc. That's a lot of people yall are going to have!

Wow, that is a lot of money for that type of food. I think you will do fine fixing it yourself. And you have your SIL and your cousin can maybe help. You could find a rental place and get serving dishes and platters from them and tablecloths and save yourself a whole bunch of money. The person that I told you about making the cake does catering like that, too. I wonder what she would charge?

I bet your back porch will be so nice and you all will be cooking out soon!

i'm sure y'all will come up with a nice spread for WAY cheaper than those quotes. go to sam's or costco and get stuff! we had a costco cake for our office's 10 year anniversary and it was really good.

You can make those sammiches and cut up some fruit yourself. $1700 is insane.
