I gotta gripe!

First of all I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thought $700 for a cake was ridiculous. Anyway on to my gripe session. I've always heard and it's true that you shouldn't discuss religion and politics with your friends because everybody has their own opinion which they should. But what about when it's discussed at work - by your boss - all the time. I don't have the same religious beliefs that he does and my political views which aren't much except when someone is pushing their belief on me without really knowing how I feel. I guess that's part of the problem I don't really say anything when he goes off about one or the other. Of course what am I suppose to say, he's my boss and I want to keep my job at least until I can find something else. Sometimes I just want to scream and tell him he really is delusional! OK I feel better now, has anyone else had to deal with this? I really do think it is totally inappropriate.

Yes it is very inappropriate to talk about at work... he shouldn't be trying to push his views on you. Maybe if he asked you yours and you wanted to talk about it with him than fine, but thats kinda disrespectful to you.

Oh, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. Politics is ALWAYS discussed at my work and it drives me crazy.

$700 for a cake is absolute robbery. What a sham. My wedding cake was only $250, and I thought that was ignorant expensive. It was quite lovely though.

Just nod and smile. I agree that he's out of line, but unless he breaks some sort of ethics law, I would just nod and smile and keep my mouth shut.

That's when I say to the person..."this is America everyone is entitled to their own beliefs!"....and smile...

Since I'm paying for my son's wedding cake, I'm glad ours is not that much!
