Just some thoughts...
I made it to parents house this morning (I had to get up 4 AM) I'm so very tired now. It was so good seeing C and the rest of my family. My mom picked me up from the airport then we had a 2 hour drive home, it was so nice having that time to chat with my mom. Then I started thinking about being in my childhood home, my parents have lived here in the same house for 45 years! My brother has lived in his house for 14 years and since I've been married (16 years) I've lived in 5 different states and 1 other country. I guess that's why I enjoy coming home so much. Even before I met my husband I moved all the time (same city) just all over it. I'm wondering now that our military life will be coming to a close how we will both feel about staying in one place forever!

I think it's so neat that your parents have lived in the same house that long. I think that gives good memories...especially for grandchildren. I know I have good memories of my grandmother's house in Montgomery and also the g-parents' house in atlanta. I hope you and the husband find a wonderful place to live that is not too far from "home" and you can start decorating a new home.

Enjoy your vacation and your family! It must be weird to almost be at the retirement stage. I can only imagine.....and wish. : )
that's so cool that your parents have lived in the same house for 45 years! i think you should house hunt while you are down there...or you could come here and house hunt...i'd help you. have fun on your 2 week vacation and say hello to rpm for me. stay cool! it's crazy hot here so i'm sure it's beyond crazy hot down there.

I feel the same way! It really bring a new meaning to going home.
