Tattoo dilemma

Last night we went to a tattoo shop, I wanted to add some vines or something around this tattoo. This was my first tattoo which is now 14 years old, it's very small and on my ankle, the two hearts represent my two boys. Anyway while at the tattoo place last night the guy said it really needed to be redone, which kind of hurt my feelings until I really started looking at it and he was right. My problem is I don't want something big on ankle but I want to have it redone. I also have two other tattoos, my lower back (some flowers) and on the side of my thigh very high up, only time it's visible is with my swimsuit on and it's a sun. Now I'm so undecided! My husband is also getting a new one, he has lots on his upper arm and back. Since he's in the Air Force he can't have anything visible with his uniform on. He's thinking of getting some kind of cross, but it takes him forever to decide I'm more impulsive. So give me some ideas on making this look better, I have to keep the hearts because of what they represent to me. I realize not everyone likes tattoos but to me it's a way to express myself.

I don't have tattoos- but the hubby does- he has 3- as for the hearts, can they just 'redo' it? so it looks fresh? I wouldn't change it either!

Thanks for visiting me!

I agree with Toni, just redo the hearts. I was thinking if you wanted to add something to it, you could have the boys' names circle the hearts in a real pretty style of writing.

rpm - I thought about having just C & S put somewhere on it but I like the idea of their names around it, thanks for the idea.

like the others have said, can they not just touch up the color to just refresh it? and then you could do a C and an S and maybe something viney around them since you mentioned vines. like the C and S would be part of the vines...or their whole names even like rpm said. surely there is a font that looks like vines!

I have a tattoo. Got it as an anniversary present for hubs for our 10th last year. I love it!

I love the idea of the names circled around it. In a really pretty scroll or script. That would be beautiful. Or even just their initials slightly overlapping each end.
